Principal Community Investment Officer and Strategist, Community Investment
An educator at heart, Amina is committed to community advancement, civic engagement, outreach, and building stronger, more connected communities. As a Principal Community Investment Officer & Strategist, Amina works with community organizations and nonprofits through AAACF’s grantmaking programs and community initiatives to help enrich the quality of life across Washtenaw County. She also contributes to the Foundation’s policy and racial equity efforts, helping connect community needs, grantmaking, and systems-level opportunities for change.
Her experience in interfaith and grassroots efforts to advance education, health, and wellness in underserved communities drives Amina’s passion for creating meaningful community impact. With more than 21 years of volunteer and professional experience, Amina holds a Bachelor’s degree in Professional Child Development and a Master’s degree in Education Policy, with a focus on Global Studies in Education. Born and raised in Michigan, Amina has also lived on both the West and East Coasts before returning to the Midwest. Living in different communities has given her a deep appreciation for the people and places that make each community unique and a special appreciation for home.
What is your favorite thing to do in Washtenaw County?
There is so much to love about Washtenaw County! I especially enjoy exploring the many community spaces with my family - from beautiful parks and museums to the incredible libraries throughout the county. I love that our libraries are more than places to find a good book; they are welcoming spaces where families and communities can connect, learn, and spend time together. I also enjoy getting out into the community, meeting people, learning from their experiences, and being a thought partner as we explore ways to strengthen our communities.
