Youth Council 2013 Grants

In 2013, Youth Council awarded $64,487.14 to support local organizations and programs that serve Youth throughout Washtenaw County:

  • Ann Arbor YMCA - $4,610
    Ann Arbor YMCA Get Fit! program
  • Avalon Housing, Inc. - $5,889
    Avalon Summer Program for Youth (SPY)
  • Ann Arbor School for Performing Arts - $6,000
    Cooperative Outreach Music Program – a formal partnership with the Ann Arbor Public Schools to provide enhanced opportunities for music education for at-risk youth.
  • Camp Kesem Michigan - $3,000
    A summer camp program run by University of Michigan students that provides a week-long camp experience for children of cancer patients.
  • Corner Health Center - $4,000
    Youth Equity Assessment Tool (YEAT) – a Youth-Led Evaluation of the Corner Health Center’s services for teens.
  • Family Learning Institute- $5,778.13
    Algebra Academy – program for minority high school students to be trained as math literacy tutors.
  • Heritage of Healing - $2,300
    Heritage of Healing Traditional Crafts Program
  • Mentor2Youth - $7,500
    Youth L.E.A.D (Learn. Empower. Aspire. Dream.) – To support expansion of academic achievement programming in Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor by giving high school students, who previously participated in Mentor2Youth programs as middle school students, the opportunity to now lead elementary and middle school programs.
  • Muscular Dystrophy Association - $4,000

  • Ozone House, Inc. - $4,410
    Young People Sharing Ideas through Art (YpsiART)
  • St. Louis Center - $4,000.01
    Youth Leadership Development Project – to help teens with intellectual and developmental disabilities develop leadership skills through a fitness program hosted at the residential, family living and learning environment in Chelsea.
  • Student Advocacy Center - $5,000
    Youth Voice Project to give at-risk youth a voice in advocating for educational opportunities.
  • Summer Camp Scholarships - $8,000
