Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation

Each year, AAACF's Youth Council awards $100 Mini-Grants to area fifth grade students to support their own community service projects.

There are no strict guidelines or requirements  - only that students leverage AAACF's funds with their own time, talents, and creativity to meet a specific community need.

Mini-grants offer young students a deeper understanding of our community's  needs and the power of philanthropy.  Students develop their own service project, research a specific community need, prepare a project plan, and use the funding to carry out their vision.

Mini-grants have helped support a wide array of service projects including: creating special care packages for children at SafeHouse Center,  buying supplies for the Humane Society, planting a special garden at school, providing toiletries and supplies for the Delonis Center, or creating special games and books for patients at Motts Childrens Hospital.

Each Spring Youth Council hosts a reception to celebrate the students' projects. Students have the opportunity to showcase their projects and share what they have learned with teachers and parents.

Applications for the 2017 Mini-Grants are due on Friday, February 24.
