Established in 1993 by former AAACF Trustees Willis Patterson, Barbara Meadows and Joe Dulin, the African American Endowment Fund was created to improve the physical, economic, social and educational conditions that affect the quality of life for African Americans in the Ann Arbor area.  

Application Process:

  1. Email Neel Hajra to touch base about your potential grant proposal. This conversation can help ensure that your proposal will be appropriate in focus and scope.
  2. Log on to www.communitygrants.org. (new users need to request a login and password, and then create a new Agency Profile after receiving a login).        
  3. Complete the "Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation" application on www.communitygrants.org.
  4. AAACF staff will conduct initial reviews before applications are directed to the African American Endowment Fund Committee for final review. The committee will occasionally request more information or a brief interview.
  5. Final decisions are announced within 6-8 weeks of the application deadline.
  6. Final Grant Reports are due through www.communitygrants.org within one year of project completion.
