Gift Recognition
New named funds at the Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation are announced in the next-published issue of our
Newsletter (fall, winter/spring or summer issues) with a description of the fund and a
brief biography of the donor(s). These descriptions are re-printed in our
Annual Report. The name of the donor or fund is associated in perpetuity with all grants
made from the fund. (The one exception is unrestricted funds, although special accommodations can be made for sizeable
funds in this category.) The Community Foundation is happy to honor the wishes of any donors who prefer to remain anonymous.
The Founders Society was established in 1972 to provide an avenue for significant support of the
Community Foundation.
Today, membership in the Founders' Society is reserved for those individuals who have made gifts of at least $10,000.
The Legacy Society was established in 2003 to provide formal recognition to those who have announced a future gift
to AAACF through such planned giving vehicles as a bequest, charitable lead or remainder trust, gift of life insurance
or retirement plan assets.
The 21st Century Society was launched in 1990 to increase the Community Foundation's assets. All members have
made contributions of at least $25,000.
