Community Initiatives
We partner with local community leaders from the private, public, and nonprofit sectors to seek innovative and effective solutions to community-wide issues.
We work to better understand . . .
- Our community's needs and priorities,
- Where there are opportunities for innovative solutions that
build upon best practices, and - Who has the expertise and capacity to affect real and lasting change.
In 2009, our Board of Trustees revisited the Community Foundation's mission and adopted two program priorities to help guide our grant funding.
AAACF also makes strategic investments of both time and grant dollars in community collaboratives that address community-wide priorities:
- Housing and Homelessness
Washtenaw Housing Alliance and the Blueprint to End homelessness - Early Childhood Development & Education
Washtenaw Success by Six - Seniors
Blueprint on Aging - Arts & Culture
The Washtenaw Arts Alliance - Youth
AAACF Youth Council - Blueprint to End Illiteracy
