GRANTS &
SCHOLARSHIPS
In fiscal year 2006, the Community
Foundation made 406 grants to nonprofit organizations
totaling $1.7 million, a 12 percent increase from 2005.
In addition, 25 AAACF funds have awarded 102 scholarships
totaling $104,604.
DONORS
In fiscal year
2006, individuals, businesses, and foundations contributed
$3.3 million in gifts and pledges, and total assets grew
from $40.1 million to $45.5 million, helped by a solid 12.3
percent return. In 2004, AAACF launched
Fund the Future, a five-year initiative to increase
unrestricted and field of interest funds in support of
flexible, responsive, and forward-looking grantmaking. Led
by volunteers,
Fund the Future has made great strides in achieving
its goals of $15 million in new gifts and pledges by
year-end 2008, and $10 million in planned bequests by
year-end 2008. As of December 31, 2006, donors have
committed $12.4 million, including $7.6 million in new gifts
and pledges and almost $4.8 million in planned bequests.
In addition,
our Book of Memory lists
individuals that were memorialized by friends and family
through gifts to the Community Foundation. The Book of
Memory can be viewed in its entirety at the AAACF office and
special events.

individuals, businesses, and foundations who share a strong
commitment to supporting programs and non-profit
organizations that help to improve the quality of life for
all our residents.
The Founders Society
Established in
1972, the Founders Society recognizes donors who have made
outright endowed gifts and pledges of $10,000 or more.
The 21st
Century Society
Established in
1990, the 21st Century Society recognizes donors who have
contributed a minimum of $25,000 toward endowment.
The
Legacy Society
Created in honor of James and Clarice
Foster whose gift of family assets established the first
endowed fund at the Community Foundation, the Legacy Society
was formed in 2003 to recognize individuals who have pledged
gifts to the Community Foundation in their estate plans.
Such commitments include bequests by will or trust, gifts of
life insurance and retirement assets, life-income vehicles
such as charitable gift annuities and charitable remainder
trusts, and charitable lead trusts.
VOLUNTEERS
Volunteers are
the heart of your Community Foundation. More than 300
individuals currently serve on our Board and committees,
including the advisory committees for Plymouth and
Ypsilanti.
AFFILIATE FUNDS
Community Foundation of Plymouth
CFP was
established in 2005 with the goal of building endowment in
support of youth, seniors, the arts, human services, the
environment, and others areas of need in the greater
Plymouth community. In 2006 CFP saw the establishment of its
first named endowment fund and made its first grant to Youth
Leadership Plymouth.
Ypsilanti Area Community
Fund
Now in its sixth year of operation, YACF
added 13 new members to its 1825 Founders Society and
welcomed three new funds under its umbrella in 2006.
With a well developed grants program, YACF is focusing on
building endowment and broadening community awareness of its
important role.
