Washtenaw County Bar Association Law & Justice Fund

In Spring, 2010 the Washtenaw County Bar Association (WCBA) realized a long standing goal when they established a new field of interest fund at the Community Foundation.

The Fund's purposed is aligned with the Association's mission and will support local nonprofits and programs that work to:

  • Improve public understanding of the legal system, legal issues, and the role of lawyers in our society,
  • Advance professional legal develoment and continuing legal education,
  • Promote affordable and meaningful access to the justice system in Washtenaw County, and
  • Improve the effectiveness and fairness of the legal system in Washtenaw County.

The Washtenaw County Bar Association Law & Justice Fund joins more than 30 other field of interest funds managed by AAACF and is the first of its kind at the Community Foundation. 

WCBA Board President Ashwin Patel shared:  "The WCBA is excited to know that we've created a fund that will support charitable law-related projects, programs, and services in our county for many decades to come.  It's really a great feeling to consider the benefits of our endowment well after we're gone."
