Ensuring Access, Opportunity, Equity and Attainment

Investing in our community’s prosperity means ensuring every student in Washtenaw County has access to a postsecondary education and the continued support and means to graduate.

To help increase college access and graduation rates for students in Washtenaw County with the greatest need, AAACF’s Board of Trustees established the AAACF Community Scholarship Fund that will award four-year scholarships to three groups:

  • Students from low-income families with household incomes below 185% of the poverty line
  • Youth of color
  • First-generation college students

An important aspect of the new fund is to provide a vehicle for our wider community to contribute. Jillian Rosen, Director of Community Investment at AAACF notes, “It really does take a village. If we want to expand college access, break down traditional barriers, and ensure a greater share of prosperity for everyone, it will take our community's investment to ensure access, opportunity, equity and attainment."
