Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs - Emergency Relief Funds for Nonprofit Arts and Cultural Organizations

The MCACA has launched a new program providing a total of $502,400 in grants to Michigan’s eligible nonprofit arts and culture organizations that have been negatively impacted as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak.

Michigan Humanities Organizations Pandemic Emergency Grants

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Michigan Humanities is providing emergency CARES Act funding to museums, libraries, archives, historic sites, and other humanities-focused nonprofits impacted by the pandemic throughout Michigan. Michigan H.O.P.E. Grants of up to $10,000 are available to provide general operating support with an emphasis on maintaining personnel.

SBA P3 Loan through Community Reinvestment Fund

Nonprofits can now apply for an SBA P3 loan through Community Reinvestment Fund. You do not need to be an existing borrower, and they welcome smaller applicants.

FEMA’s Public Assistance Program (PAP) "how to" Guide

U of M’s Youth Policy Lab and Office of Community & Economic Development created this “how to” document to support nonprofits who wish to apply for FEMA’s PAP funding. Youth Policy Lab is having standing Zoom office hours at 10AM and 4PM daily starting 4/21/20 for agencies who have questions regarding the PAP application. Catchafire platform for Washtenaw County Nonprofits

Catchafire matches highly-skilled professionals who want to donate their time and talent with nonprofits who need those skills. The platform is being offered for 2 years, free of charge to Washtenaw County nonprofits, until all spots are filled.

Small businesses need our support! AA-Ypsi Givitas Local allows small, local businesses (and nonprofits) to ASK for support, and for others in the community (individuals and organizations) to GIVE support in response. Small businesses and nonprofits can ask for anything they need (money, volunteers, tech support, legal advice, etc.) and others using the site can give to help meet those needs.

The Supportive Housing Field Responds to COVID-19 by CSH

Corporation for Supportive Housing is hosting this event on 4/28, 5/5, and 5/12 for anyone providing and housing and services in this crisis. They will highlight what they have been learning, provide best practices, and discuss what information and resources the field needs right now. CSH has been providing many useful resources including a CARES Act Funding Overview, a COVID Budget & Expenses Tracker, and a Triage & Tele-Health Support Plan for Alternative Care Sites/Isolation Units.web

To help the startup ecosystem tap into the collective wisdom of our networks, Give and Take has launched Givitas. It is a new community for the broader MI startup community (founders, executives, advisors, investors, service providers) to exchange help, advice, connections, resources and ideas.

MI Local Biz - Crowdfunding Available to Support Small Businesses

New MI Local Biz program, developed by Patronicity and The Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC), will allow Michigan-based small businesses to raise funds from their customers through donation-based crowdfunding model. The MEDC will match crowdfunding raises on a 1:1 basis up to $5,000 for eligible small businesses experiencing economic challenges as a result of COVID-19.

Arbor BioSciences - Free kits for genetic code research

UofM startup, Arbor BioSciences, is providing free kits to capture the genetic code of virus samples for researchers working on COVID-19 sequencing. The information could help shed light on how the genes of the virus cause the symptoms of the disease. It could also help reveal the factors that enabled the virus to become infectious in humans.

Unemployment Insurance Agency - Work Share Program

Work Share is a program that permits employers to maintain operational productivity during declines in regular business activity instead of laying off workers. With the plan, rather than being laid off, eligible employees work a reduces number of hours in the work week and receive a portion of weekly unemployment benefits. By participating in Work Share, employers are able to retain trained employees and avoid the expense of recruiting, hiring and training new employees.
