After earning her BA in psychology at MSU, Rachel began working closely with low-income children and families through her work as a research assistant with U of M’s Center for Human Growth and Development. The experience of forming relationships with underserved community members solidified her desire to work for the nonprofit sector. She wanted to do more to serve the residents of Washtenaw County. AAACF seemed like a perfect fit for Rachel, for as an Asian Studies and Asian Pacific American Studies minor and first-generation Chinese American herself, she has always been interested and invested in community values. Rachel’s experience as a research assistant also led her to be very detail-oriented, a trait that serves her well as she manages her work supporting AAACF staff with a diverse range of tasks and responsibilities.
What’s your favorite thing to do in Washtenaw County?
Going for runs or hikes in parks in the area, especially taking my niece to County Farm Park.
