Thank you for your generosity and for supporting the work of Washtenaw County nonprofits! We are proud to be your philanthropic partner and we are here to assist you. (734.663.0401 / firstname.lastname@example.org). Before the year ends, make sure you have considered opportunities and plan now for deadlines! To distribute a grant before the year-end, all grant requests must be received by 12/17 . Grant requests can still be made after that date; they will not be processed until the new year. Remember that granting from a donor-advised fund is not tied to a calendar year ! In fact, we strongly encourage you to consider recommending grants outside the year-end timing when many other people are giving. Consider a Valentine’s Day grant for your favorite nonprofit instead, for example! Some IRA providers take time to process Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs) . Please do not wait until mid-December to ensure your minimum distribution is satisfied for this calendar year. You will likely need to give your IRA provider our EIN Number (38-6087967) to process your QCD, which must be issued to us directly (or made payable to us directly if the check is mailed to you). Please note that QCDs should be deposited by us before 12/30 to meet your minimum distribution for the year. While QCDS cannot be directed to a donor-advised fund, other permanent endowed funds at AAACF qualify . You can also direct one check from your IRA provider to us to be allocated into different accounts here, such as to support a couple favorite nonprofits’ endowments. We are open to receive your gifts through year-end via mail, our dropbox in our lobby, or by appointment (we are closed on 12/24 and 12/31). Gifts by mail must be postmarked by 12/30 (the postmark is the gift date, not the date on the check) to be counted as 2021 gifts. Although we are open to receive stock gifts ( instructions here ), please consider market timeline and deadlines. We encourage you to plan ahead and we are happy to consult directly with your professional advisors. While we can receive gifts of securities into a fund here (or quickly create a new one), we cannot receive a gift of stock to then process for donor-advised fund grants after the 12/17 deadline.
